Rockwood Bakery
About This Spot
Nestled in Spokane’s charming Rockwood neighborhood, Rockwood Bakery invites you into a gently bustling space where the rhythm slows just enough to savor simple moments. The warm aroma of freshly baked goods drifts through the air, mingling effortlessly with soft morning light streaming through large windows. Here, the hum of quiet conversations and the comforting clatter of cups create the perfect backdrop for a Saturday morning coffee date or a peaceful afternoon spent turning pages or jotting thoughts into a journal.
This spot feels like a well-loved neighborhood hideaway—spacious enough to find a cozy nook but lively with the steady flow of friendly faces stopping in throughout the day. Whether you settle in for a solitary pause or gather with friends around one of the generous communal tables, there’s a sense of easy connection fostered by thoughtful, welcoming service and the genuine craft behind each dish served.
The menu mirrors this balance of care and comfort. It’s the kind of place where the day starts with a slightly burnt quiche that somehow feels perfectly imperfect alongside a richly layered mocha latte. The bakery’s cinnamon rolls, with their delicate crispness and buttery softness, beckon like a small indulgence worth lingering over, while the mixed berry scones and the subtle earthiness of a matcha latte offer moments of quiet discovery. This approach to simple, fresh flavors extends into heartier bites too, with offerings that feel homemade and thoughtfully put together, ideal for fueling neighborhood wanderers or a relaxed midday break.
Beyond the food, there’s a particular energy here—a meeting place where locals feel at home, whether they’re writers searching for focus, friends catching up, or passersby drawn in by the inviting aroma and buzz of friendly chatter. It’s a space where the imperfect crust or the morning crowd doesn’t detract but rather adds to the lived-in charm, making Rockwood Bakery more than just a breakfast stop—it’s a place to slow down, savor the familiar, and perhaps discover a new favorite.

I love sitting here and reading, journaling and just enjoying the atmosphere. I just wish their black coffee was better quality. It always tastes so old and too strong. If they offered some pour over coffee a whole new wave of people would pour in (no pun intended).

Food would be 5 stars but the quiche crust was overbaked and the texture of the quiche was not great. The cinammon scone was AMAZING, coffee was good, seating was easy to find, the neighborhood is super cute, stopped by on the way to Manito Park.

Stopped by here on my lunch break and I'm glad I did but also afraid I will be coming back far too often lol. The cinnamon rolls are possibly the best I've ever had. They're crispy like a danish yet perfectly buttery soft, just mouthwatering. And the zucchini walnut bread was heavenly. As well as the cookie. Everything tastes so fresh and home baked and is very filling. The people up front are friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be returning to this place.

A gem in Spokane, Rockwood Bakery is a must-visit spot. Their coffee is spectacular, and the food is just as impressive—everything I tried was absolutely delicious. Beyond the great food and drinks, what really makes this place shine are the workers, who are an absolute delight. The atmosphere is neat and cozy, making it the perfect place to hang out with friends. Whether you're looking for a quick coffee or a place to settle in for a while, you can't go wrong with Rockwood Bakery.

I stopped by Rockwood Bakery in the Rockwood neighborhood of Spokane after visiting Twisted Stitch Yarn. The bakery is a sizeable location with serious traffic on a Saturday. Even then, there was plenty of seating in the back of the big space. I definitely will work on my thriller novels here. And there are quite a few large tables for bigger groups. I loved the energy in the front of the store and the staff is quite nice. The clerk addressed me almost immediately when I stood in front of the baked goods display case. I liked that because I didn’t have to go chasing someone. That was good. The snickerdoodle cookie I bought was massive. It wasn’t a little tidbit. This was a cookie the size of a desert plate. I love it. And, most importantly it tasted really good. It was a good road snack as I traveled around Spokane working on business. I love the hand written menu - it’s a fun touch. It beats the plastic electronic displays. It gives you a comfortable feel like it’s a small location. The warm plank flooring adds to the feel of the location. It’s a bit different than the more modern outside, but it works.

Came at noon on a Saturday and it's a pleasant amount of busyness. They have a plethora of food items and all of their coffees come out looking and tasting great!

Great coffee shop! The staff were welcoming, friendly, and really made us feel comfortable. The coffee and pastries were delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. A gentleman with a mustache took our order, he was fantastic. We also chatted with the cashier, she was super sweet and had such a bubbly personality. (wish we had asked their names!) We mentioned we were visiting the town, and she told us she had moved here a few years ago. She even shared some great feedback and recommendations on places to visit, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience and we truly enjoyed our visit. Highly recommend!

We visit Manito Park every time we come to Spokane, but this was the first time we had ever tried the Rockwood Bakery, and it was a nice surprise. Love the decor, just felt like a warm, inviting space to sit and enjoy a nice coffee and a wonderful baked item. The Counterperson was bright, cheerful, and seemed to really enjoy her job - which was very refreshing to see. I had a HUGE slice of strawberry rhubarb pie (with whipped cream on the side!), and my wife had a blueberry muffin. My pie was awesome, my Wife thought the muffin was a little dry, but had good flavor. Prices were very reasonable. We will be back for sure!
